Pharmaceutical Care and Outcomes Research Lab
About PCOR
The Pharmaceutical Care Outcomes Research (PCOR) lab in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at The University of Toledo College of Pharmacy is proving that success with medication therapy management is not just for Asheville. PCOR has helped community pharmacies provide regimented patient care that changes lives and supports the bottom line. Since 2005, PCOR has coordinated patient care in pharmacies across the Northwest Ohio through practice-based research networks (PBRNs).
The mission of the PCOR lab is to improve healthcare costs and quality by using health related outcomes research. Members of the PCOR lab strive toward this mission by working collaboratively with clinicians, payers, and patients to identify appropriate interventions and therapies.
PCOR’s work has four primary goals:
- To assist pharmacists in developing, implementing, and evaluating Medication Therapy Management programs that lead to improved outcomes.
- To work with employers and health plans assisting them in indentifying interventions/programs that improves employee well-being and productivity while decreasing health care costs.
- To demonstrate improvements in the quality and effectiveness of care provided to patients.
- To facilitate decision making through assessment of outcomes.
