Dr. Mauro earned her B.S. in Pharmacy from Ohio Northern University and her Doctor of Pharmacy from The Ohio State University. She completed a Clinical Pharmacy Practice Residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She is also Adjunct Associate Professor of Medicine in the College of Medicine, University of Toledo.

Dr. Mauro teaches Drug Information and coordinates Drug Information instruction that is integrated into 6 laboratory courses over 3 years of the Doctor of Pharmacy curriculum. She also coordinates and lectures in Pathophysiology and Pharmacotherapy - Poison Management. She also lectures in a number of areas of pathophysiology and pharmacotherapeutics including Renal, and Cardiology. She maintains a clinical practice with the Medical Intensive Care Team at the University of Toledo Medical Center where she precepts a critical care rotation.

Dr. Mauro is currently Director of Educational Assessment for the College of Pharmacy, Chair of the Assessment Committee and Chair of the Curricular Evaluation Subcommittee. She serves on the Academic Performance Committee, and Professional Conduct Committee. She serves on the Critical Care Editorial Panel of Annals of Pharmacotherapy. She is a member of American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy, American College of Clinical Pharmacy, American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists, and Society of Critical Care Medicine.
