Department of Pharmacy Practice
The Department of Pharmacy Practice is one of three departments in the College, and is located on the Health Science Campus. The department includes faculty in the divisions of:
- Pharmacy Practice
- Pharmaceutics and Industrial Pharmacy
- Health Outcomes and Socioeconomic Sciences
Nearly all faculty members in the Department are pharmacists. The faculty represent a diverse group of interests and activities that lead to the accomplishment of mission of the College and University in each of the division disciplines.
The division has 13 tenure-track faculty, 12 clinical-track faculty, 4 staff, and 5 residents who participate in undergraduate and graduate education, post-graduate training, basic and clinical research, and the practice of pharmacy. In addition, over 300 community-based faculty assist the Department in the teaching mission by providing introductory and advanced pharmacy practice experiences, and scientific internships.
The Department primarily provides instruction in the Doctor of Pharmacy program, and also offers the Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences degrees in Cosmetic Science, Pharmacy Administration and Pharmaceutics, and the Masters of Science degree in Health Outcomes and Socioeconomic Sciences and Industrial Pharmacy.
Faculty members practice at the University of Toledo Medical Center and Clinics, the Center for Health Services, the Neighborhood Health Association, the Veterans Administration, and Kroger.
Health Outcome and Socioeconomic Sciences (formerly Pharmacy and Healthcare Administration)
The division of Health Outcomes and Socioeconomic Sciences includes faculty members with expertise in social and behavior health, pharmacoeconomics, and healthcare outcomes. The Pharmaceutical Care and Outcomes Research lab is housed in this division. The division provides BSPS and MS degree programs in pharmacy administration and health outcomes.
Pharmaceutics and Industrial Pharmacy
The division of Pharmaceutics and Industrial Pharmacy prepares students to assume pharmaceutical manufacturing positions performing a variety of specialized tasks including pre-formulation evaluation, dosage form design, stability testing, pilot plant scale-up and production. The Laboratory for Product Design, Development & Evaluation (LPD2E) operates within this division.
