The University of Toledo College of Medicine’s Student to Student program provides the opportunity for UT medical students to share their knowledge about a wide variety of health-related topics with elementary, junior high, and high school students.

Medical students volunteer to go out to a local elementary school to give about an hour long presentation to local elementary and high schools about different health topics such as dangers of smoking, AIDS, etc.  We use props and other tools to interact with the kids.  Also, another cool thing we provide is for high school students to come to the school, and we give them about an hour long presentation in the anatomy lab. 

But, won't this take up too much time?  I GOTS TA STUDY!
NO!  The great thing abtou S2S is that there is no set commitment.  As a member you only have to give 1 presentation a year, so we allow people to volunteer as much as they want or as little as they want.  You can be as involved as you want to be.  You can do one or many presentations, so there is not a weekly commitment.  Time is very flexible as we allow you to coordinate with the teacher, so you can decide when you want to have a presentation.  Most students do their presentations and anatomy tours occur during lunch (12-1pm), but you can schedule them after class if you want to, so you'll never have to miss any class.  We only ask that you follow through if you do set up a presentation at a certain time.  The presentations are not very long and it is an incredibly rewarding experience for the kids and us.   Presentations will begin in October and last through April.

But I have never done a presentation before!!
Its okay!  We have a premade PowerPoint presentation for every topic, so the time you'll spend preparing is minimal.  We also have all of the props and visual aids for you to use.  For others that want to be creative and whip up your own presentation that is great too.  Also, these presentations can be done with a friend or another student if you would like.
