American Medical Association Medical Student Section - UTCOM
With nearly 50,000 members, The American Medical Association Medical Student Section
(AMA-MSS) is the largest and most
influential organization of medical students in the country. The AMA-MSS is a vital part of the
155-year-old American
Medical Association and has direct input in forming AMA and national health care policy. With
more influence than any other organization
representing medical students, the AMA-MSS is dedicated to representing medical students,
improving medical education, developing
leadership, and promoting activism for the health of America.
The UT College of Medicine is building a tradition of leadership within
the AMA, as exemplified by our Dean Jeffery P. Gold, who was recently elected to the
AMA Council for Medical Education. Additionally,
the AMA-MSS has a close relationship with the Ohio State Medical Association (OSMA),
where we have a say in all issues facing medicine in the
state of Ohio.
Please join our organization and become further educated about important medical
student issues including student debt
relief, health care and medical liability reform, medical education, and patient advocacy.
Learn more about the AMA by exploring our
website, our newsletters, and by checking out the AMA national website. We encourage
medical students to be as involved in organized
medicine as possible, whether it is through AMA, AMSA, and/or the SNMA. We truly
believe that by doing so your medical education
can be more enriching, rewarding, and of better service to you as you prepare to enter
medical practice.
