    Emergency Medicine Club

Welcome students!  The Emergency Medicine Club consists of a group of students who are interested in any or all aspects of emergency medicine. Our club offers great opportunities to gain a clearer picture of what EM is really about.  It also gives you exposure to physicians experienced in the ER.

The really unique aspect of Emergency Medicine is that every member of the health care team, from the brand new EMT-Basic to the grizzled 30-year veteran physician, works together to provide patient care. With this concept of teamwork in mind, the EM Club will strive to emphasize all aspects of health care and provide educational opportunities that will meet the needs for everyone on Health Science Campus.

The 2008-09 EM Club was very active, providing students with fun opportunities like suturing and IV/Intubation workshops, MedWar adventure race, and even a book club.  We also hosted a MRSA Symposium, bringing renowned specialists to our campus.

The EM Club offers an Emergency Medicine Elective, so students can really get a sense of what Emergency Medicine is all about.  There are also research opportunities—so many, in fact, that we have an officer dedicated to connecting people with available positions!  One of our members even presented research at a conference in Italy!

The EM Club has many plans for the coming year, and we hope you will check out our group, and join in on the opportunities!
