    Sports Medicine Club

    The Sports Medicine Club is a student-run, school sponsored organization designed to enrich medical school education in the field of Sports Medicine and Orthopedics. The Sports Medicine Club uses clinical education lectures and professional update lectures to disseminate Sports Medicine related information to students with and interest in Sports Medicine and Othropedics. The club uses social events to promote the UT College of Medicine on a local and regional level. It is the mission of the Sports Medicine Club to help broaden the students' knowledge of the important clinical aspects of Sports Medicine and Orthopaedics as well as the current professional opportunities in each field.

    This year the club will be implementing a shadowing elective course to allow students to actively see what a sports physician does.

    Clinical Education Lectures:

    • Orthopaedic evaluation of shoulder injuries
    • Arthroscopy of the shoulder
    • Orthopaedic evaluation of the knee
    • Arthroscopy of the knee
    • On field evaluation of head and neck injuries

    Sports Medicine Elective:

    • Evaluation and Treatment of Common Knee Pathologies with an Introduction to the Sports Medicine/Rehabilitation Team
    • 5 - 1 hour lectures
    • Anatomy
    • Physical Therapy (2)
    • Orthopedaedic Surgery
    • Orthopedaedic Surgery Observation
    • Physical Therapy Evaluation
