UTCOM-Waite Brand Foundation Community Health Project - Interns

The UTCOM-Waite Brand Foundation Community Health Project (CHP) provides medical students with a deeper and broader understanding of the socioeconomic, cultural and environmental factors that contribute to an individual’s health status. This project seeks to provide valuable benefits to participating social service agencies and the people they serve. The principal component of the CHP is the Summer Internship Program which places students in a variety of social service agencies. Intern services range from preparing and presenting educational material, to providing basic health screening. Participating agencies in the past include: Adelante, American Diabetes Association, Camp Courageous, Center for Choice, Compass Comprehensive Addiction Service, The Educare Center, Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Inc., Planned Parenthood of Northwest Ohio, St. Paul’s Community Center, Sylvania Community Services, Toledo Society for the Blind, and various YWCA organizations.

 

**This is a UTCOM sponsored academic program and as such you will be eligible to receive liability insurance through The University of Toledo**

 

Program Dates: 6-8 weeks, starting Tuesday, May 28, 2013. Dates may vary by agency.

 

Compensation: $9 hourly rate/40 hours per week

 

Eligibility:

• UTCOM medical students who are in good academic standing.
• Number of participants selected will be determined by available funding.
• Students may only participate in one of the UTCOM Summer Educational Opportunities, but may apply to multiple programs.

• Applicants must complete a FAFSA form to determine eligibility for Federal Work Study funding.
