Sabina Elizondo-Serratos Associate Director of Multicultural Student Services 419.530.2992 Phone sabina.serratos@utoledo.edu |
Sabina has been with the University of Toledo since 1991 both as a student and a professional
staff member. Born and raised in South Toledo, she is a graduate of Libbey High School.
Go Libbey Cowboys! Shortly after enrolling at UT, Sabina landed her first work study
job in the admissions office with the Hispanic Outreach Program. Gaining valuable
experience through high school visits and financial aid nights, she developed an interest
in working in the financial aid office and became a peer counselor for just over 3
years. It was in 1995 when Sabina became a financial aid advisor and eventually
acquired the title of Senior Financial Aid Advisor where she remained until August
2006. While her primary duties revolved around financial aid processing, her passion
for helping to recruit and retain Latino students allowed her to take on extra responsibilities
like advising the Latino Student Union and participating in outreach programs geared
towards the Latino population. Ultimately her dedication and commitment lead her
to become the Director of the Office of Latino Initiatives in August 2006.
Sabina graduated in August of 1993 with her associate degree -her most valued college
degree, in Legal Assisting Technology (now known as the Paralegal Studies Program).
Elizondo-Serratos then continued on to obtain her bachelor's of arts in Women's and
Gender Studies in 1998, and her Master's in Liberal Studies in 2006. She was recently
admitted into the Higher Education Program where she will begin the journey of earning
her Ph.D.
Elizondo-Serratos doesn't have spare time because her time outside of work and class
is committed to her family. She has four children which include a college student,
a high school student and two elementary school students and of course their needs
are all so different. She and her husband enjoy listening and dancing to Tejano music
and are proud fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers. And yes, she says... "We ARE the CHAMPIONS"
! She loves family gatherings where her parents, brother and sisters (& their husbands),
neices, nephews and great nephew Adrian are all together.

Dale Pelz, Jr.
|
Dale Pelz, Jr. received his Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Toledo in 2001. He got his start working in Higher Education at Lourdes College as an Admissions Counselor before joining UT in the Undergraduate Admissions Office in 2002. After working for about one year at UT, Dale decided to pursue graduate school at Arizona State University. He received his Master of Science in Recreation from ASU in 2005. Dale then stayed out in Arizona for the next 5 years, working for ASU. He spent one year as a Program Coordinator for New Student orientation before becoming an Academic Advisor for the College of Nursing and Health Innovation, where he spent the next 4 years.
In 2010, Dale decided it was time to leave the desert and move back to Ohio to be closer to his family. He landed a position at Kent State University as an Honors College Advisor, but he really wanted to be back in Toledo. Only six months after moving to KSU, in February 2011, Dale achieved his goal of moving back to his hometown and alma mater, and re-joined the University of Toledo as a Retention Specialist. Dale works with students and staff across the division in creating academic and social support to help students get connected to the university as early as possible.
Dale is very happy to be back in Toledo, spending time with his family. He enjoys sports, being outdoors, and looks forward to a long career here at his alma mater.
