Confused about garbage pickup? Our permanent color is ORANGE. We are on Recycle Route 1. For now garbage is collected on Monday. April 6th, garbage will be collected on MONDAY. The next holiday is Good Friday and then we'll be switched to Tuesday. Soooo, Tuesday April 14th will be our next garbage day. Soon the City will be ticketing residents for putting the garbage out too soon. Be sure to mark your calendars and watch to see what your neighbors are doing.
April 25th is the Great American Clean-Up and the Big Event from the University of Toledo. President Obama said we should volunteer so let's all clean-up our neighborhood together --residents and students! Bags are available - call 419-535-6660. There is a "Trash Spoils Everything" contest. Take pictures or videos of trash and submit to KT/LCB to win a prize locally and statewide. Call 419-535-6660 for additional information.
Come to Blockwatch and find out what you can do about neighborhood concerns. We are fortunate to have many resources available to us. Meetings are held the first Monday of each month - more information on the new meeting location to come - 7:00 p.m. Mission Statement: Our mission is to form a partnership with neighborhood volunteers to create safer and more wholesome neighborhoods.
Remember to keep your windows -- ESPECIALLY ON THE FIRST FLOOR -- locked when you are gone. Check often. Make sure any window with an air conditioner is also secured. Thieves have been going in through unlocked windows. Take your valuables in with you from your vehicle. Watch for any suspicious activity, like youth on bikes during the school day - even in the middle of the day.
When walking your dogs be sure to take a bag along to pick up the doggie doo!! It is very unpleasant to find it in your yard especially if you do not have a dog and your children play there. Even on the curbs it is nasty and attracts rats.
