    Rocket-Ex

    ABOUT ROCKET-EX:

    These fitness classes are held at the Student Recreation Center (SRC) and collectively called Rocket-Ex.  Rocket-Ex classes and programs are open to all SRC members and community members 18 and older.

    MEMBERS & STUDENTS: The classes are non-credit and there is no fee to participate.  Classes are held on a walk-in basis. You may pay a $30 fee in the main office to reserve your position on the class roster. 

    NON-MEMBERS: Non SRC Members may access these classes by paying full price, allowing them a number of visits equal to the times the class will meet in that semester.

    CLASS DATES: Classes begin on Monday, August 25 and continue through Friday, December 12.

    Classes will NOT be held on the following dates:

    August 30- September 1: Labor Day

    October 18- 21: Fall Break

    November 11: Veterans Day

    November 26-30: Thanksgiving

    REFUND POLICY:

    For those who pay for Rocket-Ex; class costs cannot be prorated.  A refund less a $15 processing fee will be  given to those who drop a class by September 8th.  Refunds are mailed in the form of a UT check.  Processing takes about 3 weeks.  No refund will be given if dropping a class after September 8th.

    Rocket-Ex Class Descriptions:

    • 20/20/20: Yes, you can have it all! 20 minutes of cardio, sculpting, and core! What more can you ask for?
    • Boot Camp: The name says it all.  No coordination required, just determination!  Instructors will lead you through drills that challenge you physically.  You may use hand weights, bands, and bars to create a combination of an upper and lower body workout.
    • Core: You will AB-solutely love this class! 15 and 30 minute classes dedicated to lengthening and strengthening your abdominals and low back.
    • Hip Hop Hustle™: This class takes the fun factor up a notch with super hot moves that will have everyone wanting more!
    • Karate: Participants of all levels are provided the basics of Shotokan Karate and can advance to Brown Belt locally!
    • PiYo™: A blend of strength moves taken from pilates and yoga principles.  Includes modifications for the group exercise environment, yet offers exercise progressions to challenge all levels of participants.
    • Pump/Body Design: This class utilizes a Resist-a-Ball, body bars, and other muscular conditioning equipment with great music to give you total body muscular conditioning (Cardio Pump incorporates cardio drills).
    • Step: This awesome cardio workout uses a creative blend of combinations utilizing a bench with a variety of options to ensure a safe and effective workout.
    • Tai Chi: A non-aggresive sequence of discipline and slow movements that can help release tension and stress.
    • Turbo Kick™: Inspired by martial arts and dance, this pre-choreographed kickboxing class will make you kick, punch, and groove throughout an 8-week session towards your fitness goals!
    • NIA®: Nia uses physical activity to integrate mind and spirit with the body.  It is a combination of nine classic movement forms including dance, tai chi, and karate.
    • Zumba®: This class fuses international music and dance in an easy to follow workout.   So FUN!
    • Spinning®: This class simulates outdoor cycling. You control the intensity of your workout with the twist of a knob.

    A towel and water bottle are required. New spinners must arrive 10 minutes early for proper bike set-up. We cannot allow participants to enter once the class has begun.  UT students or SRC members can reserve a spot for those classes by paying $30 per semester. Register in the main office.

    Aquatic Aerobics

              Waves:
     This non-impact aquatic class uses buoyancy and inertia for a fun aerobic workout! It’s the coolest way to get fit!
