Here is a short list of some local community agencies
Toledo Metroparks
Metroparks of the Toledo Area preserves natural, historical and cultural parklands
in Lucas County. Eleven scenic parks and two recreational trails provide access and
interpretation in northwest Ohio’s premier natural areas. Whatever your interest
or amount of time you have to devote, there is a place for you as a Metroparks Volunteer.
Time commitments vary depending on your chosen area; some positions require a regular
schedule, others are flexible, even seasonal.
Ronald McDonald House
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northwest Ohio is celebrating twenty-five years
of help and hope this year! We are committed to providing temporary, homelike accommodations
and a caring environment to families accessing medical care for children, and to awarding
grants and funding projects to organizations that enrich the lives of children. You
can help. We have lots of opportunities, each requiring different skills, time commitments,
and rewards, for you to help us help families who battle the often overwhelming effects
of a child’s illness and injury.
Toledo Museum of Art
Toledo Museum of Art continues its dynamic role in the lives of our community members
and in the national and international realm of art and architecture. The Museum’s
is committed to entice and engage diverse audiences and to introducing art to our
community. Our School of Art and Design’s outreach partnerships continued to provide
satellite art classes for underprivileged children at the Sofía Quintero Cultural
Center and the Boys and Girls Club. Volunteers make all the difference! Volunteers
are the face of the Toledo Museum of Art.
Imagination Station
Imiganation Station is a non-profit, hands-on science museum located on the riverfront
in downtown Toledo, Ohio with over 300 exhibits and educational programming for kids
of all ages in the community. You can put your talents and time to great use for COSI!
We want you as a valued member of the Team at Toledo's incredible science center.
COSI has a volunteer niche for everyone.
Toledo Food Bank
There mission is to enable other community organizations to end hunger. We strive
to maximize community resources by effectively obtaining and distributing food through
a food collection and distribution system. The Toledo Northwestern Ohio Food Bank
relies on the generosity of thousands of individuals who donate their time and effort
to help feed the hungry in Northwest Ohio. Volunteers are always welcome at the Food
Bank to sort donated food and grocery products, assist the office staff and help with
events.
