Campus Conservation Nationals
March 25th - April 15th (2013)
Campus Conservation Nationals (CCN) is the largest nationwide electricity and water
reduction competition on college and university campuses. The 3-week competition is
to be hosted between February 4th and April 26th.
UT will be competing for the first time in 2013. We will compete internally between
residence halls as well as nationally. The residence hall that saves the most energy
wins a hall trophy and free t-shirts! The school that saves the most energy wins a
three building Lucid Dashboard, an energy monitoring system.
Earth Fest
Tuesday, April 23rd 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM (2013)
Come one, come all, to The University of Toledo's 14th annual celebration of the planet
we call Home located in Centennial Mall. (Rain location: Student Union, Ingman Room
and South Lounge.) Come on out for environmentally-friendly food, music, games and
contests, guest speakers and presenters, and lots more! More information here.
E²=WB² Bike Week
Energy & Environment = Walking, Biking, and Busing Week
April 22nd - April 27th (2013)
Put on by the University’s Complete Streets Committee, it is a week dedicated to raising
awareness of the Complete Streets movement, as well as the environmental, economical,
and social benefits of using other modes of transportation other than automobiles.
Events range from group bike rides to free bike tune-ups. Stay tuned for more updates!
Friday Night Lights
Every Friday Night (2013)
Friday Night Lights is a group of student volunteers dedicated to helping UT conserve
energy by turning off lights in academic buildings on Friday nights. In addition to
helping to conserve energy and save money, members have the opportunity to earn service
hours that may be able to be applied to other groups, fraternities, sororities, etc.
Volunteers meet at 6:30PM outside the Student Union's South Dining Hall.
BlackoUT
November 1st – 30th (2013)
BlackoUT is a campus wide residence hall energy competition, which combines the SEED
Initiative with Residence Life. The energy consumption of each residence hall will be monitored and then compared
to consumption during the same period the past year. The residence hall that saves
the most energy wins a hall trophy and free t-shirts!
RecycleMania
February 2nd – March 29th (2014)
RecycleMania is a friendly ten-week competition among college and university recycling
programs in the United States and Canada. For the past few years, UT has competed
internally between residence halls as well as nationally. The residence hall that
saves the most energy wins a hall trophy, t-shirts, and a pizza party provided by
Residence Life!
