Choices. If you already have a bachelor’s degree, you can enter UToledo’s Certificate in Health Information Administration program. If you have as associate’s degree in health information technology, you can earn a bachelor’s degree in just two years of full-time classes. The certificate and the bachelor’s degree undergraduate programs align with and prepare you for the national Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) exam.
A growing job market. There will be more than 50,000 new jobs for health information specialists in the next 10 years, according to the Department of Labor. Starting salaries can range from $30,000 to $50,000.
RHIA certification exam. In your final semester of the HIA program, you can qualify to test early for the Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certification. The certificate gives you an edge in a competitive industry. You may earn more if you have it.
Accredited program. UToledo's online HIA degree and certificate programs are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics and Information Management (CAHIIM). Most HIA classes also are certified by Quality Matters.
