Department of Art Transfer Students
The University of Toledo Department of Art is accredited through the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD). If course equivalency is not already established, students wishing to transfer credits into their program of study at UT must have their art course work evaluated by the department faculty.
Once you have been admitted to the University as an Art major, you should make an appointment with the transfer advisor in the Tri-college Student Services office (UH 3000, phone 419.530.2671). The transfer advisor will evaluate all non-Art courses for equivalencies. Following that, your art courses must be evaluated using the process outlined below:
If requested by the art faculty advisor in order to establish equivalency, potential Art and Art Education majors and minors are required to submit a portfolio and syllabus for every Art course taken at any other educational institution in order to determine applicability to degree. The appropriate studio/art education faculty will evaluate the work and assign transfer credit for each course reviewed. You will be informed by the Tri-college office once the credits have been evaluated.
Preparing your Portfolio Please include a copy of the syllabus and catalog course description for each course being evaluated for transfer credit. (If you did not keep the syllabus, contact your instructor. You can find the course catalog descriptions on your former institution’s web site.) - Submit 8 - 10 examples of the work you completed in the course. (Original work is preferred for review. Quality slides or jpeg images will also be accepted.)
