Location Information
Writing Center peer reader assistance is provided by appointment throughout the academic year. Typically, you may schedule a 25-minute or a 50-minute session. The 50-minute session is recommended for longer papers, such as group projects, research papers, or senior thesis. Twenty-five minute sessions work well for shorter documents, brainstorming sessions, and/or assistance with MLA, APA, or other citation. Students working on extensive writing projects often meet with a tutor more than once for more sustained individualized guidance; however, only one appointment can be made at a time and only one appointment can be made per day.
Call 419.530.4939 or stop by the Writing Center in Carlson Library. Since the Writing Center is very busy near mid-term and during the last weeks of the semester, you should make your appointment a week ahead at those points of the term to ensure a time convenient to you. Note also that Fridays are now a walk-in day. Students do not need to make an appointment ahead of time to meet with a tutor on Fridays; simple show up during the hours we are open and you can work with a tutor as soon as one become available.
If you cannot keep an appointment, call to cancel so that others may take your spot. If you fail to cancel an appointment, it will affect future scheduling. Students arriving more than ten minutes late for a tutorial may be asked to reschedule Late arrivals will only be accommodated if there is no one else waiting to take that time spot.
The Writing Center offers limited hours during the initial week of term. Please call ahead of time to confirm those hours.
