TSOC 3000 Reading Analysis/Application
Each TSOC 3000 section will involve a “reading analysis/application” assignment worth 15-25% of the semester grade. Reading analyses assignments are developed by individual instructors, but in all cases they require the student to show understanding of the readings assigned as well as ability to apply them to thinking about her/his own work and experience.
One version of this assignment, as developed by Dr. Lynne Hamer, TSOC 3000 Course Coordinator, focuses the analysis on “Democracy and Education.” The assignment, rubric, and an example essay are available for use in this course, but it is not required that this assignment be used. Other instructors’ assignments might be very similar or very different.
