Loan and TEACH Grant Checklist and Links

For TEACH Grant and all loans except Parent or Graduate PLUS:

  • Accept, decline or reduce your loan through the myUT Portal - My Toolkit. 

Federal Direct Subsidized/Unsubsidized Stafford Loans:

  • Complete Stafford Loan Entrance Counseling.  Using your FSA ID, login to studentloans.gov to complete.
  • Complete the Stafford Loan Agreement - Master Promissory Note (MPN).  Using your FSA ID, login to studentloans.gov to complete.

Federal Direct Parent or Graduate PLUS Loans:

  • Complete the "Apply for a PLUS Loan" process by using your FSA ID (parent needs to use the parent's FSA ID) to login to studentloans.gov.
  • Complete the PLUS Loan Agreement - Master Promissory Note (MPN).  Using your FSA ID (parent needs to use the parent's FSA ID), login to studentloans.gov to complete.
  • Complete the Graduate Entrance Loan Counseling (Graduate PLUS borrowers ONLY).  Using your FSA ID, login to studentloans.gov to complete.

TEACH Grants:

  • Complete the TEACH Grant Initial and Subsequent Counseling at studentloans.gov.
  • Complete the TEACH Grant Agreement to Serve (ATS) at studentloans.gov.
    The ATS will not be available to complete until the TEACH Grant has been accepted and sent to Common Origination Disbursement (COD) for processing.  This can take up to a week from your acceptance of the grant.

Exit Counseling for Stafford, Graduate PLUS Loans and TEACH Grants (required once you graduate or cease at least half time enrollment):

  • Complete Exit Counseling for Loans at studentloans.gov.
  • Complete Exit Counseling for TEACH Grant at NSLDS.
