This section is staffed 7:30 am to 8:00 pm, Monday-Friday and 8:00 am-4:00 pm on Saturday. Our MRI scanner is located on the first floor of the Hospital.

MR= Magnetic Resonance Imaging. Unlike Diagnostic and CT Scanning, this modality does not utilize x-rays to image the body. This technology utilizes a high strength magnetic field (1.5T) and radio-frequency waves.

This scanner has proven to be of great clincal value in the assessment of central nervous system disorders, musculoskeletal disease and sports medicine injuries, heart and great vessel disorders, abdominal/pelvic masses and vascular disease, among others.

Patients must be able to hold very still for the scans, which range from seconds to several minutes in length. Each exam consists of several "scans"; therefore appointment times range from 30 minutes to 60 minutes. Claustrophobic patients should consult with their physicians before making an appointment.
