Ohio Means Internships and Co-ops Grant (OMIC)


An Ohio Means Internships and Co-ops Grant was awarded to the University of Toledo Department of Biological Sciences and Lourdes University.  This funding from the State of Ohio is intended to increase internships and co-ops at Ohio companies with the goal of retaining more workers in Ohio.  It is also intended to expose Biology students to career options that they might not have considered.

This grant reimburses an employer for 50% of your wages during the internship.

What is an internship?
An internship is experiential learning.  You learn while working.  In some cases, you may even earn college credit toward your degree.

Who is eligible? 
UT Biological Sciences majors, any level (yr 1-4).

Where can the internship be? 
Any “BioHealth” company in Ohio.  The company (or facility) must be registered on the website.

When is the internship? 
Internships can happen during the academic year or over the summer.

What kinds of internships are eligible? 
Internships must be in the areas of bio-health, which can include food processing or research and development.
