About Licensing

Use of The University of Toledo’s name or trademarks requires advanced permission from the University via a contract or trademark license agreement. Once approved, the business or person requesting permission becomes a "licensee" and the individual products (or services) become "licensed products" (or "licensed services").

The University of Toledo has contracted with Learfield Licensing Partners to help manage the University's trademark and licensing program. Learfield Licensing Partners helps administer the application process, work with licensees and vendors, collect royalties, assist with artwork approvals, and provide guidance with enforcement.

Before any merchandise is produced featuring University of Toledo marks, all artwork must be submitted and approved through Learfield Licensing Partners’ approval site, Trademarx. This will allow the Licensing Manager to determine if merchandise is ready for production or if changes are needed.
