    The Office of Institutional Diversity is committed to assisting the University of Toledo, its Trustees, and Administrative Officers in the reaffirmation of their commitment and University of Toledo's legal, social and economic commitment to equal opportunity for all persons as fundamental policy throughout the institution.

    The Office of Institutional Diversity also:

    provides specific policy to base employment decisions on bona fide job-related criteria that further the principles of equal opportunity and the effectiveness of affirmative action, and to insure that all personnel decisions and actions, responsibilities and benefits fully comply with the nondiscrimination and affirmative action requirements of equal opportunity, and

    ensures that everyone has access to, along with full and equal enjoyment of, all services and accommodations of the University of Toledo.

    Functional responsibilities:

    • Compliance with The Americans With Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA)
    • Training on ADA
    • Responding to complaints filed by existing or former employees with the Ohio Civil Rights Commission (OCRC) and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC)
    • Responding to complaints filed by former or existing students with the Department of Education, Civil rights division
    • Conducting internal investigations regarding Title(s) VI, VII, and IX including all forms of harassment or discrimination based on Sex, Race, Color, Creed, etc.
    • Anti-harassment training
    • Preparation of Annual Affirmation Action Compliance Plan
    • Preparation of Annual OCRC Statistical Analysis of Workforce
    • Assisting in UT's response to Audits by the Ohio Department of Health and the Ohio
      Department of Administrative Services
    • Assisting in the College's response to inquiries from the North Central Association (Accrediting Body)
    • Counseling
    • Crisis intervention
    • Conciliation
    • Recruitment of individuals from underrepresented groups for employment purposes
    • Organize and coordinate efforts of the UT Diversity Training Team

    • Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986
    • Pregnancy Discrimination Act of 1978
    • Equal Pay Act of 1963
    • Title VI & VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964
    • Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967
    • Sections 503 and 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973
    • Executive Order 11246
    • Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972
    • Section 402 of the Vietnam Veterans Readjustment Act of 1974
    • Ohio Revised Code Title 41
    • Executive Order 28
    • Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990
    • Civil Rights Act of 1991
    • Civil Rights Restoration Act of 1988
