Websites You Should Visit Often:

    • MyUT Portal:  This is the portal for all students and contains specific tabs for information and resources for current students, Tips and Tricksincluding links to financial aid, registrar, student accounts, rocket e-mail, and much more!  You can access this through the main university page at http://utoledo.edu, or directly by typing http://myut.utoledo.edu in your browser.
    • University of Toledo Website: The main UT website contains information for all things UT - such as programs pages, auxiliary office and student service pages.  The site contains a search feature specific for the University of Toledo website.  The website address is:  http://utoledo.edu
    • Graduate School: For students in the College of Graduate Studies (excluding Pharm D), this website will contain handbooks, forms, news, and information pertaining to your graduate school experience.  It is recommended you become familiar with this site and refer to it for information on policies and procedures.  The website address is: http://utoledo.edu/graduate.
    • Office of International Student & Scholar Services:  The Office of International Student and Scholar Services (OISSS) provides assistance and services to international students at The University of Toledo, helping students transition to life at UT and in the United States. Toledo museum of art

More than 30,000 works of art represent American and European painting, the history of art in glass, ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian works, Asian and African art, medieval art, sculpture, decorative arts, graphic arts, and modern and contemporary art. The Glass Pavilion has five galleries, a glass study room, classrooms, two hotshops, a multipurpose GlasSalon, public and private courtyard space, and a coffee bar.

Valentine Theatre

The Valentine Theatre is a 120-year-old 901-seat facility operated by the Toledo Cultural Arts Center, Inc. The Toledo Cultural Arts Center, a non profit organization, produces and provides cultural and performing arts experiences for diverse audiences of all ages, to enhance the quality of the cultural and economic life of the City of Toledo, Lucas County, Northwestern Ohio and Southeast Michigan.

Cedar Point Amusement Park

A world class destination just an hour and a half away in Sandusky, Ohio!  Cedar Point is known for a couple of things. It’s known as the roller coaster capital of the world. But some just refer to Cedar Point as the world’s best amusement park. With 120-mph roller coasters that have 80-degree drops. An amusement park that has rides for the entire family and gives you water rides that make you wonder why it’s simply only the roller coaster capital of the world.

Put-In-Bay

Put in Bay, Ohio, is located on the crown jewel of the Lake Erie Islands, South Bass Island. More than half a million people visit the island every year. Getting to Put in Bay island is half the fun! The island is on Lake Erie, approximately 5 miles from Catawba Island and Port Clinton, Ohio. The Lake Erie Island area is a beautiful section of the Lake Erie basin. Fishing, sailing, and island-hopping are frequent and regular seasonal activities in the summer, while ice fishing is the top selection for winter time.

Tony Packo's/Packo's at the park

This Toledo landmark is known the world over for its famous Hungarian food, as well as its famous celebrity patrons.  The restaurant boasts several locations, including the downtown location near 5/3 Baseball Field, home of the Mudhens team. See the famous collection of autographed hot dog buns lining their walls from celebrities, and other famous dignitaries!  The restaurant was also made famous on the 1970s sitcom M*A*S*H by hometown hero/actor Jamie Farr.

The Docks - restaurants

The Docks has been Toledo’s place to be and be seen since 1996, and offers an eclectic array of cuisine from which to choose. But choose wisely, for every restaurant at the Docks is first-rate, and has a personal atmosphere which exudes an attitude all its own. Venues at the Docks include: Zia’s Italian, Real Seafood Company, Admiral's American Grill and El Vaquero Mexican Restaurant (coming soon).

gradkowski's (on Main Campus)

Now a backup quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Bruce Gradkowski first made his name as starting QB for the Toledo Rockets—visit the restaurant he opened at the edge of the Main Campus near the UT Bookstore. Echoing Gradkowski's love of his adopted hometown, the menu overflows with dishes made with locally sourced ingredients.

  • Shop around for your books and supplies.  Here are a few sites used by your peers:

    Check the University Library or your local library to see if a book can be checked out for the semester.

  • Rentals:  You can rent some textbooks at much lower costs than purchasing, but here are some things to remember:
    • Check to see when the books are due back.  You may need to rent for additional time if you need the book for exams.
    • Check with your program to see if you will need the book later in your program, for a comprehensive (comp) exam, or even a project.

  • PrepareTo Do List
  • Returning to School:  It's Been How Long Since You Were in College? (Coming soon!)
  • Studying Area
    • Set up a study area in your home or apartment where you can be free of distractions and have plenty of room to spread out materials for studying.
    • Set aside specific study time once you have gotten into your class routine.
    • A whiteboard is a good tool for studying and testing yourself on material.  Sizes vary, but a handheld board will do just fine.
  • Technology Purchases and Suggestions from your Peers
    • Hardware
      • Computer/Laptop/Tablet (Many students use these to take notes in class, work on papers and projects, and access the Internet)
      • iPad (Many students use this to take notes during class and for the ease of Internet use)
      • External hard drive to back up your work
    • Software
      • Google Docs (Used for collaborative projects with other students)
      • Microsoft Office (Free download for students at the MyUT Account)
    • Applications
      • Rave Guardian
      • SelfControl (An app you can download for Mac and an alternate version for Windows to block websites for a period of time to eliminate distractions when you study - such as Facebook, etc.)
