Faculty in the Department of Pharmacy Practice work collaboratively to develop and communicate new knowledge related to human life, medicine, and drug therapy. Although each division has individual researchers, faculty research interests commonly span the divisions, bringing a variety of expertise and knowledge together for successful grantsmanship and innovative results. The division has a long history and reputation for championing multidisciplinary research, integrating it with practice, service and educational activities. Faculty members are involved in research in the basic sciences, including the physical aspects of drugs and drug formulation, microbiology and infectious disease, and pharmacokinetics. Clinical investigation is an important part of the department’s research, including health volunteer, phase III and IV work, clinical drug use, pharmacoepidemiology, and clinical pharmacology. Our faculty are involved in pharmacoeconomics and psychosocial research, and often work collaboratively with healthcare partners in northwestern Ohio.
Outstanding research opportunities also are afforded postdoctoral students pursuing advanced training through specialty residencies, fellowships and interdisciplinary programs with other University of Toledo graduate/postdoctoral programs.
