LGBTQ History Month Film Series: Forbidden - gay & undocumented, moises serrano fights for justice

During LGBTQ History Month, the Office of Multicultural Student Success, LGBTQA+ Initiatives, and the Department of Women's and Gender Studies will be partnering to host a film series dedicated to learning more about the letters in "LGBTQ". For Forbidden - Gay & Undocumented, Moises Serrano Fights For Justice, we are excited to also partner with Hispanic Heritage Month and Latino Initiatives.

LGBTQ History Month kickoff

We will be kicking off LGBTQ History Month with a display of the different flags in the LGBTQA+ community. Stop by to learn the history behind the flags, grab some buttons of your favorite flags, and enjoy rainbow cookies!

PRISM coming out meeting

Prism is and LGBTQA+ student organization that works to provide and maintain a safe campus climate for LGBTQA students at the University of Toledo. This meeting will be an open space for members and attendees to share their coming out stories in an affirming space.

For Watermelon Women, we are excited to host Dean Charlene Gilbert to lead a discussion of the film. Dean Gilbert was part of the production team for Watermelon Women.

drag queen story hour

Tuesday, october 16, 2018 from 6:30pm-7:30pm
Children's section, carlson library

We are excited to collaborate with a community partner, Harvey House of Northwest Ohio to bring their monthly program to the University of Toledo. Our October drag queen story hour will be hosted Brook Lockhart! This event is open to kids of all ages (adult must stay with any child under 12). The stories will be targeted at elementary school, but the message will resonate with kids of all ages.

This event is free to attend! A donation bucket will be present for Brook, since she is donating her time (and make-up) to the event.

We are excited to host delfin Bautista as our Keynote Speaker for LGBTQ History Month. delfin will discuss multiple faith beliefs and their connections to the LGBTQ community; following the keynote address there will be a Q&A and light refreshments.

Prism is and LGBTQA+ student organization that works to provide and maintain a safe campus climate for LGBTQA students at the University of Toledo. Prism hosts an annual Drag & Talent show.
