Sexual Assault Task Force

President's Letter to Campus

Dr. GaberDear UT campus community,

Earlier this year, I put together a task force to review The University of Toledo’s practices and policies related to sexual assault awareness, prevention and adjudication and to compare them to other universities to be sure we were following best practices.

The Sexual Assault Awareness, Prevention and Adjudication Ad-Hoc Task Force has completed its assessment, which affirms that UT is one of the safest campuses in the state and that we offer strong sexual misconduct prevention programming and support services. But we also have areas for improvement, such as better coordinating services available across campus and enhancing training programs and communication.

I encourage you to review the executive summary of the Sexual Misconduct Assessment and Recommendations available on the Division of Student Affairs website.

Thank you to members of the task force, led by co-chairs Dr. Amy Thompson and Valerie Simmons Walston, for their hard work.

The safety of our students is a top priority. Every report of sexual misconduct is taken seriously, and we have zero tolerance for any type of abuse. I look forward to working with the campus to implement the recommendations of the task force to ensure UT continues to be a safe and welcoming environment.

Sincerely,

Sharon L. Gaber, PhD

President
