What is it?
The uncUT FYE Film Festival is an opportunity for first-year students to document their first semester experience. Freshman students can team up and create a 3-5 minute video creatively displaying their first year experience. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams.

Where to Start?
Teams consist of three to five first-year students with freshman status. Each team will receive an upper class mentor for advising and editing. Each team is required to meet with their mentor. Training is available on all equipment and software necessary to create their movie. All equipment is supplied. Once your movie is created, you can use an Apple computer in our office or any university computer lab to edit your film.
Event
A select number of movies will be viewed at an event in the Doermann Theater. This event is FREE and open to the public. Movies will be viewed by a panel of judges based on a point scale system in the following categories: Creativity, Innovative use of technology, Videography, Editing, Thematic Integration, Quality of Acting Performance, Story or narrative and FYE Content.
During the event, prizes will be raffled off throughout the evening. Don't miss this chance to support your fellow students. Please check back for updates.
Rules
Each group must abide by the following rules:
1. Film may not contain nudity, sex, drugs (simulated or actual), profane or obscene language.
2. No violations of state law. Don't know if it’s a violation? Ask.
3. At least 2 members of the team must attend the designated training session with their mentor.
4. Teams must consist of at least 3 members, maximum of 5 members.
5. Time limits are recommended between 3 and 5 minutes.
6. Teams will have 4 weeks to complete the final production piece.
7. Your film must relate to the first- year experience.
FAQs
Q: How many students can be on a team?
A: Minimum of 3 and maximum of 5. You can pick your own teams but if necessary, submissions of 1 to 3 will be placed with others to make a team of 5.

A: 3-5 minutes
