Graduate Certificate in Diversity

The Higher Education Program offers a Graduate Certificate in Diversity. The program consists of 12-credit hours taken over four semesters. The certificate program is coordinated by Dr. Shanda Gore who oversees and directs The UT Minority Business Development Center, the Ohio Minority Business Assistance Center-Toledo, and the federal-funded Global Virtual Minority Business Assistance Center in the Division of Diversity and Inclusion.  She serves as State Co-Chair of the American Association of Education (ACE) Women’s Network Ohio and is the former President of the Ohio Diversity Officers Collaborative and the State Representative for American Association for Access, Equity and Diversity (AAAED). Subject matter experts are featured as guest speakers throughout the program. All classes are taught online.

Program Courses:

The 12-credit hours equal four courses that provide knowledge and understanding of different aspects of diversity, such as theory, understanding, personal communication, and exploring the various dimensions, and application of diversity. The courses may be taken in any order and all four are offered online. The four courses include:

  • HED 5910/7910 Diversity Beginnings
  • HED 5960/7960 Diversity in Practice
  • HED 5970/7970 Diversity Advancement
  • HED 5900/7900 Diversity Leadership
