Your relationships with faculty and classmates are important. Because you’ll be in familiar groups, you’ll have more opportunities to ask questions, join discussions and make valuable connections on a daily basis.

Unique classroom experiences.

Not so keen on lectures? Good! Honors classrooms are all about active learning, where you’re likely to hear a chorus of voices and viewpoints designed to open your mind to all that’s possible.

we are beyond 'book smart'

UT’s Honors College doesn’t limit academic opportunities to a desk and a laptop. Our students are involved in a multitude of experiential opportunities that transform what they learn into real-world applications.

Capstone projects and research experiences.

As an Honors student, you’ll attain greater mastery of the subject matter in your specific major and program through special projects or activities. These could be clinical experiences, lab or field work, research assignments, creative works or something you and your professors develop together.

The Honors College also houses UT’s Office of Undergraduate Research, which allows students to engage in hands-on research early in their academic careers. UT Honors students have even been the lead authors of published research papers, an opportunity rarely afforded other undergraduates.

Immersive Education abroad experiences.

A broad worldview is vital to success in many professions. As an Honors student, you can widen your perspective – and make memories to last a lifetime – during Honors-exclusive learning excursions to destinations such as Guatemala, Cuba, Spain, the Galapagos Islands and more.

Community engagement.

Our perspectives may be global – but our service learning begins at home. Our students develop compassion for others as they tutor children at local schools, prepare meals for those in need, help maintain wilderness trails and fundraise for area charities.

we are a thriving community

We don’t have a secret handshake (yet!), but our students, faculty, advisers and Success Coaches are a close-knit, dynamic community.

Beyond living and learning together, we thrive in an environment that doesn’t hesitate to explore the bold, the untouched and the unique.

Honors Academic Village.

UT’s newest residence hall was developed expressly for Honors College students, and balances space for study and space for fun, including its own fitness room.

Leadership opportunities.

Honors students are UT’s best and brightest, mentoring younger students, serving as campus ambassadors and interacting with community leaders.

Diversity.

Honors students come from a variety of countries, backgrounds and cultures. While we may bond over a tough class, our differences make us blossom.
