With Toledo being a "test market" for new restaurants and food (Taco Bell always launches their new products here first - yes, we were one of the first cities to have the Doritos Loco Taco!), there is something for everyone, even if you are a picky eater. Students at UT enjoy on and off-campus restaurants.
If you want to enjoy on-campus dining, there are 4 residential dining halls, 2 restaurants, 6 convenience stores, and 6 retail dining:
- Residential Dining Halls - International House, Ottawa House East, Student Union South Dining, and Parks Tower
- Restaurants - Phoenicia Cuisine and Rocky's Student Lounge (Freshen's, Grille Works)
- Convenience Store - I Crave, P.O.D., Store, PODX (College of Engineering and College of Business), Bottle Rockets
- Retail Dining - Croutons, KFC Express, Magic Wok, Pizza Hut Express, Subway, Starbucks
If you're closer to Rocket Hall and want something quick, Gateway provides places to grab some lunch in between classes. Jimmy Johns, Starbucks (located inside The University of Toledo Barnes and Nobles bookstore), Yogurt U, and Rice Blvd are all located in Gateway right off Secor Road.
There is something for everyone when it comes to off-campus dining! You can try something close to campus, like Ferdos (an amazing Mediterranean Restaurant), or something a little farther, like bd's Mongolian Grill at Westfield Franklin Park Mall. Or if you're feeling fancy, try an eatery at The Docks, located on the beautiful Maumee River in downtown Toledo. Craving Italian? Toledo has that covered too - you can pick a Toledo favorite, Calvinos, or try everyone's favorite, like Olive Garden or Spaghetti Warehouse.
Right down Secor Road is Westgate Village Shopping Center, which is a great place that has many different restaurants to choose from, including:
- Five Guys Burgers and Fries
- Barry's Bagels
- Starbucks Coffee
- Ritters Frozen Custard
And right around the corner from there is the Westfield Franklin Park Mall that has an amazing food court and has restaurants, like The Elephant Bar, Bravo's, the Claddagh Irish Pub, Olga's, and a great food court.
You can't miss out on the Toledo tradition of Tony Packo's, which has amazing authentic Hungarian food. They offer numerous types of food, including their wondering Sweet Hot Pickles, Chili Mac, and the Bunker Buster Combo (which includes their great hot dogs). Don't forget to get some Packo's Chili Hot Dog sauce for when you cook at home!
