Jeff Haidet

Jeffrey "Jeff" K. Haidet '85 serves as the United States chair of Dentons, the world’s largest law firm. Haidet's practice focuses on domestic and international commercial transactions for a variety of corporate clients including transaction and financial restructuring, mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic alliances, and industry consolidations. He acts as chief outside legal counsel for several of the firm's clients and manages numerous internal investigations and special committee representations.

Haidet visited The University of Toledo College of Law in September 2018. During his visit, Haidet spoke to the first-year class about his time at Toledo Law.

"While at Toledo Law, it was hard to imagine all the opportunities that I would be fortunate enough to experience," said Haidet. "The dedication of the Toledo Law faculty and the work ethic inspired by the culture of the law school prepared and positioned me to take advantage of those opportunities."

Haidet also spoke to a large student crowd about the globalization of the practice of law and later met with students individually to discuss their resumes and talk with them about their interest in working at a larger firm.

In 2019, Haidet was named by JAMES magazine to their list of Most Influential Georgians. This marked the second year in a row that he was selected for this distinction. The publication cited his current role at Dentons, accomplishments as chief legal counsel to high-profile clients, and his service on the boards of the Catholic Foundation of North Georgia, the Atlanta Commerce Club, and the Georgia Chamber of Commerce.

Haidet has also been recognized by The Legal 500 and Best Lawyers in America for his mergers and acquisitions (M&A) work for middle-market clients and his corporate work.

Prior to his leadership role at Dentons, Haidet served with distinction for more than a decade as chair of McKenna Long. He joined the firm in 1985 shortly following graduation from Toledo Law. In 2015, McKenna Long merged with Dentons US.

Haidet earned his bachelor's degree in political science from Miami University and his J.D. from The University of Toledo College of Law. He currently resides in Los Angeles, Calif.
