University Libraries

The Mulford Library provides access to different versions of MEDLINE (PubMed, EBSCOhost, Ovid). The interface differs among these versions, as does the quality and precision of the search (see comparison sheet).

PubMed@UT (1947-present)

PubMed is the free version of MEDLINE made available by National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) at the National Library of Medicine (NLM). Searchers on the University of Toledo Health Science Campus or those who are registered with the Mulford Library should search PubMed@UT; it tells PubMed to show information about locally-available online journals.

PubMed also includes some special search features and databases:

Journals database (to look up journal names, abbreviations, ISSNs)
MeSH database (to find Medical Subject Headings to use in searches)
Single citation matcher (to verify a citation)
Clinical queries (research methodology/systematic reviews)
IndexCat: Index-Catalogue of the Library of the Surgeon-General's Office, 1880-1961 [information]
NCBI PMID-PMCID Converter (translate PubMed I.D. umbers to PMC (formerly PubMed Central) I.D. numbers)

1966-present [off-campus access]

EBSCOhost MEDLINE also provides links to the full-text articles that are available at the Mulford Library. Access is restricted to faculty, residents, staff, and students who are registered with Mulford, Carlson, or any other OhioLINK library.
