Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

The University of Toledo understands the importance of having a diverse student body, faculty, and staff and has a number of diversity initiatives to support these efforts, especially in health care-related majors.

Celebrating the differences

Our department has long supported diversity and inclusivity on all levels, irrespective of ethnicity, race, gender, sexual orientation, spirituality, personal beliefs, age, or national origin.

Our team functions as one big family, a truly cohesive unit, supporting each other and proud of everyone in the team.

Our residents come from all walks of life and have a various backgrounds. This is a positive trait we appreciate and strive to maintain. We don’t just accept the differences — we praise them, we advocate for them, and we believe that we prosper through building on the differences in personalities, backgrounds, and cultures.

Dr Li, our Residency Diversity Officer, regularly holds sessions with the residents to go over topics focusing on Diversity, Inclusion, Equity, and Access.

People Club

Additionally our department supports many of the university's academic, resident, and student activities focused on diversity, equity and inclusion, including PEOPLE's Club in Medicine which represents the LGBTQI medical students at The University of Toledo.

Our support also extends to the departmental research efforts, where for the past four years, we have significantly focused on diversity, access to care, and wellness projects.
