Divisions: Emergency Medicine

The residents are able to interact with Pediatric Emergency Medicine physicians during emergency medicine rotations as well as when on ward service or night call. The residents learn to understand the basic principles of emergency medical services for children including the role of the primary care provider, the prehospital care systems, and regional trauma systems.

The residents are involved in stabilization and resuscitation of critically-ill or injured children in the ED setting, evaluate and manage common signs and symptoms in children of a variety of ages, and are responsible for developing a logical and efficient approach to the care of acutely ill or injured patients.

Residents rotate through Toledo Children's Hospital pediatric emergency department.
