Vice President for Strategic Enrollment Management

Dr. Tony BourneDr. Tony Bourne

Dr. Tony Bourne began his service at The University of Toledo in November, 2024, as vice president for strategic enrollment management. Prior to UToledo, Bourne served as vice president of enrollment management at the University of Memphis and before that as vice president for enrollment management and marketing at Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio.

Bourne has overseen a wide range of departments including work within academic colleges in enrollment, curricular development and student success as well as in university admissions, marketing, financial aid and one-stop services. This work included time in student affairs for Rhodes State College where he was assistant vice president of Student Affairs and at Wright State University, moving through admissions and academic positions culminating in the role as director of enrollment management for the College of Engineering. His work in enrollment management has been focused on student success, retention and graduation as well as improving the operations and finances of institutions.

Tony earned his Ph.D. in engineering with a focus on cognitive systems from Wright State University.

His research interests were in student success, curricular intervention and innovation and how those areas impact student enrollment and university success. He has a master of public administration from Walden University and earned his bachelor of arts in economics from Wright State University. He also earned a certificate of leadership in enrollment management from the University of Southern California where he currently serves as program faculty and has also earned a certificate in Digital Marketing Analytics from the MIT Sloan School of Executive Education.
