Filipino-American History Month

Planning committees are open to all UToledo students, faculty, and staff. If you are interested in serving on the planning committee for Filipino-American History Month, please email omss@utoledo.edu.

Purpose: Filipino-American History Month acknowledges the first recorded presence of Filipinos in the United States, which occurred on October 18, 1587, and commemorates the contributions Filipinos have made to American history that is not taught in school or found in history books.

FILIPINO AMERICAN NATIONAL HISTORICAL SOCIETY 

Filipino American National Historical Society conducts research and studies; gather, promote, and disseminate published works on Filipino American history; provide a repository for research and gathered materials; create exhibits; promote and hold forums and public programs; and sponsor fundraising events to accomplish these purposes. The mission of FANHS is "to promote understanding, education, enlightenment, appreciation and enrichment through the identification, gathering, preservation and dissemination of the history and culture of Filipino Americans in the United States.
