The University of Toledo awards scholarships to out-of-state students who are US citizens or eligible non-citizens. Along with stackable admission awards and college specific awards, over 85% of our incoming students receive a scholarship or grant!

These are four-year renewable scholarships that recognize outstanding students upon review of their cumulative high school GPA, ACT/SAT test scores, and core curriculum as outlined on the table above. In addition to the award amounts above, additional scholarships can be found below.

For students starting fall semester 2019, the scholarship amounts can be increased by review of higher ACT/SAT test scores and/or higher cumulative high school GPA, all of which must be submitted prior to February 1, 2019.

Renewal criteria includes maintaining a 2.75 cumulative GPA and earning 27 UToledo credit hours within two semesters of the academic year. For students who do not meet these requirements, UToledo maintains an appeal process detailed in the full terms and conditions

Rocket Nation Scholarship

Rocket Nation Scholarship
This $8,500 award is available to academically eligible out-of-state students from outside of Ohio and Monroe County, MI. The addition of this award is already reflected in the matrix above. Learn more

Scholarship of $500 to dependents of alumni who meet the academic criteria and submit a separate application. Learn More

Levis Leadership Scholarship
This scholarship for the first academic year is offered to 30 - 40 incoming freshman students accepted into the Levis Leadership UToledo Program.  Learn more

UToledo Sibling Scholarship
Scholarship of $1,000 per sibling who both meet the academic requirements and submit a separate application. Learn More

University Enrichment Grant

Students with an ACT Composite Score of 17-19 or SAT 920-1020 and a strong academic record may be eligible for an University Enrichment Grant of $1,500. 


Students that file the 2019-20 FREE APPLICATION FOR FEDERAL STUDENT AID (FAFSA) and demonstrate financial need will be considered for additional financial aid awards.  The FAFSA is available starting October 1st to apply for aid for the following Fall 2019 semester.  The priority deadline for The University of Toledo to receive your processed FAFSA is February 1, 2019.


Presidential Scholarship
Our most prestigious scholarship that covers full tuition and general fee, room and meal plan, and provides a one-time summer stipend of $3,000 for research or summer experience. Learn more

Michigan Education Trust

Students may direct a refund amount to any out-of-state baccalaureate degree-granting institution or community college. For more information, please visit the Michigan Education Trust website.
