Choose Ohio First for Physics & Astronomy (COFPA)

Choose Ohio FirstChoose Ohio First Scholarship Program

Participating Institution: Physics and Astronomy at The University of Toledo

The COFPA scholarship is a match only scholarship where a student can receive a maximum award of about $7000 per year. The COFPA award amount has to be matched with some other scholarship that the awardee has already received from the University of Toledo. It is therefore important that information about your scholarship be accurate and only the amount for the 2020-2021 academic year be considered. The match could be a fellowship, stipend, tuition scholarship or other forms. It could be need-based or merit-based.

Any undergraduate student enrolled full time at the University of Toledo (UT) in Fall 2020 semester may apply for the COFPA scholarship provided all the following additional eligibility criteria are met:

  1. The applicant must be a US citizen and a resident of Ohio.
  2. Fall 2020 must be the first semester of the applicant as a full-time student at UT. Applicants may include incoming freshmen or transfer students.
  3. Transfer students must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 at the earlier institution from where they transferred.
  4. For students straight from high school, a minimum GPA of 3.0 in high school is needed.
  5. Students must have a declared major of BS or BA in Physics or Astronomy at the time of receiving the scholarship. Dual majors may apply provided one of the majors is Physics or Astronomy.
