Sharon Speyer joined The University of Toledo as Strategic Advisor to the President in the summer of 2024 after retiring from Huntington Bank. She serves as a chief advisor in the areas of economic development, community engagement and connectivity to the private sector.

During her 31-year career, she served in a range of capacities. Sharon was Regional President and Director of Economic Inclusion for Regional Banking responsible for philanthropic and economic development initiatives in Huntington’s 11 state footprint.  She began her banking career as General Counsel and Secretary of the Board for a predecessor community bank.

In 2010, Sharon was appointed to the University of Toledo Board of Trustees. During her 9-year tenure, she served in several leadership roles including Board Chair for two years. She currently serves on the Toledo Lucas County Port Authority, ConnecToledo, Toledo Museum of Art and Northwest Ohio Innovation Consortium boards.

Speyer, who graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Arts and received her Juris Doctorate Degree from University of Toledo College of Law, resides in Sylvania with her husband.
