International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)

The International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) control specially-designed defense articles, services, and related technical data and other items that are identified on the U.S. Munitions List (USML). The ITAR are administered by the U.S. Department of State Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC).

Export Administration Regulations (EAR)

The Export Administration Regulations (EAR) control the export of U.S. and dual use items (i.e., items with both military and commercial uses) identified on the Commerce Control List (CCL). The EAR are administered by the U.S. Department of Commerce Bureau of Information Security (BIS).

Nuclear Regulatory Commission Controls (NRCC)

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission Controls (NRCC) regulate the export of nuclear equipment and materials.  The NRCC are administered by the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

Foreign Assets Control Regulations

The Foreign Assets Control Regulations implement economic sanctions programs primarily against targeted countries and groups of individuals.  The regulations are administered and enforced by the Office of Foreign Asset Control (OFAC) of the U.S. Department of Treasury.
