The UToledo REC is taking steps to ensure we are providing a safe environment for our employees, students and guest members.

In accordance with state, local and University of Toledo guidelines Recreational Services has made the following changes to promote safety.

What are we doing to keep you safe?

Enhanced Safety Standards

  • Requiring face coverings for Rec staff 
  • Requiring face coverings at all times in the facility and in all activity spaces.
  • No face covering required while you are in the pool
  • Temperature checks are required at entry
    • Temperatures of over 100 degree, entry is not granted 
  • Requiring face coverings in fitness/activity spaces
Equipment
    • No items will be available for check-out from Service
    • No access to drinking fountains
    • Refill stations are usable
    • Personal bags should be put in the locker room or they MUST be placed in cubbies in the fitness space
    • Personal items brought into activity spaces will be limited to:
Water bottles, swim goggles/cap, bath and or sweat towel, and small personal fitness items (yoga mat, jump rope, weight belt, lifting straps, etc.)

Cleaning Protocols

  • Increasing disinfection of high-touch surfaces
  • Adding more self-cleaning stations that provide disinfectant spray for equipment
  • Hand-sanitizing stations are conveniently located throughout the facility
  • Enhancing cleanliness and sanitization training for all staff

We do ask that members wash their hands for at least 20 seconds with soap and water before using equipment and disinfect equipment before and after use

Social Distancing

  • Increasing equipment spacing
  • Reducing class sizes (reservation required)
  • Adjusting room capacity
  • Marking traffic flow patterns throughout the facility
  • Installing plexi-glass barriers where appropriate

Community Safety

  • Contactless swipe system for UToledo Rec entry (Fusion App)
  • Monitoring employees for symptoms
  • Modifying operational hours
  • No Guests or Guest Passes will be permitted
You should not visit Recreational Services if:
  • You are experiencing signs and symptoms of COVID-19 that may include cough, shortness of breath/difficulty breathing, chills, headache, sore throat, loss of taste or smell or a temperature greater than 100°F
  • You have been exposed to someone showing symptoms or who has recently tested positive for COVID-19
