Jim brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our business incubator as the Entrepreneur-in-Residence. With over 50 years as a practicing trial lawyer, he has established a distinguished legal career, making significant appearances before the United States Supreme Court, the Ohio Supreme Court, and various federal and state courts. Jim’s expertise and dedication have earned him accolades in esteemed publications such as Best Lawyers in America and Ohio’s Super Lawyers List. He is also a fellow in the International Society of Barristers.
In his role as Entrepreneur-in-Residence, Jim provides invaluable mentorship and strategic guidance to startup founders, helping them navigate the complexities of business development and legal compliance. He leverages his extensive legal background to advise on the formation and structuring of new ventures, offering critical insights into regulatory requirements and risk management.
Jim’s contributions extend beyond the courtroom. He played a pivotal role in the merger of The University of Toledo and the former Medical University of Ohio in 2006, showcasing his leadership and strategic vision. His governance experience includes serving as Chair of The University of Toledo Board of Trustees and Chair of the Toledo-Lucas County Port Authority.
