Historical/Biographical Sketch

Miss Constance Machen attended the University of Toledo and graduated with the class of 1925. During her time at the university, she collected numerous pieces of memorabilia to create a personal record of her college experiences. Interestingly, the student yearbook was not published in 1925 due to student unrest and administrative turmoil. Therefore, Constance’s records were an appreciated contribution to the University Manuscripts collection because previously the Ward M. Canaday Center did not even have a copy of the 1925 Commencement program. Constance’s personal collection allows an intimate glimpse into student life during her time.
