Join us at the second annual LGBTQA Issues Conference on Friday, March 20, 2020. The conference will include a welcome lunch, panel presentations, and a keynote address by Rae Senarighi, entitled Transgender Courage as a Model for Resilience.

Rae is a transgender non-binary fine artist, designer and muralist, best known for colorful abstracts, intricate typography and vivid portraiture. His portrait series, TRANSCEND, celebrates transgender and non-binary individuals throughout the world who are living their lives openly, choosing integrity over safety.

The LGBTQA Issues Conference is open and free to all.

The Office of Multicultural Student Success invites proposals for the second LGBTQA Issues Conference at The University of Toledo on Friday, March 20, 2020. The LGBTQA Issues Conference will include a keynote, student research presentations and panels comprised of local activists, artists, faculty, and staff. We welcome oral presentations and video presentations on all topics involving the LGBTQA community; oral and video presentations will have 15 minutes with additional time for Q&A.
Abstract submissions are due by Friday, January 31, 2020.

Possible topics could include:

  •  Asexual and Aromantic Spectrum Communities
  • Gender Identity
  • Gender Expression
  • Intersex
  • Intersectionality
  • HIV/AIDS
  • LGBTQA Laws, Policies, & Rights
  • Race, Gender & Sexuality
  • Religion, Gender & Sexuality

Although the call is open to all topics, we especially encourage submissions on queer and trans relations; Black liberation; Native sovereignties; trans/queer of color critiques and movements; trans and queer feminisms; migration and diaspora; de-colonization; disability and intersex justice.

Your proposal must be submitted by Friday, January 31, 2020 and should be no more than 500 words. After submission, receipt of your proposal will be acknowledged via email within three working days. Acceptance or rejections of the proposal will be sent to you with reviewer comments on February 10, 2020.

All student presenters will receive complimentary admission to the LGBTQA Issues Conference.
