Program Goal

To provide top level EMS education, using the guideline set forth by the U.S. Department of Transportation, the State of Ohio, and the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Service Professions, using evidence-based, and life-saving strategies.

Our EMS program at The University of Toledo is a community effort to enable our students to provide the best pre-hospital care to members of our community.

Our program also relies on a cadre of Interprofessional medical faculty and health care providers at UToledo's Interprofessional Immersive Simulation Center (IISC) for development of psychomotor skills and formative and summative scenario based education. We are also fortunate to have access to UTMC's clinical staff and facilities, affiliations with numerous ProMedica facilities in Northwest Ohio and also Mercy St. Vincent's Hospital (Toledo).

The program boasts a 100% pass rate for NREMT-P, which is the national registry test necessary to become a licensed Paramedic, a 100% pass rate for the State of Ohio DPS EMS Paramedic Certified status, and a 100% employment rate in the EMS field.
