Health Services We Offer

Our University health centers offer the same services as your family doctor. Many of our students who live out of town see us for primary and urgent care.

  • Acute illness care (colds, flu, etc.)
  • Program pre-matriculation health requirements
  • Sexually transmitted diseases
  • Physical examinations
  • Sports physicals
  • Lab draws (only at University Health Center)
  • Specialist referrals
  • Prescription medications
  • Women’s health care
  • Contraceptive care
  • HIV testing/counseling
  • Allergy injections (only at University Health Center)
  • Immunizations and flu shots
  • TB/QFT testing and follow-up care
  • Occupational exposure/follow-up care
  • Certified drug screening (only at Student Health and Wellness Center, Health Science Campus)

You may use either of our facilities – the University Health Center or the Student Health and Wellness Center on the Health Science Campus.

Services not available at our on-campus health centers may be available at the University of Toledo Medical Center and its satellite facilities (x-rays, lab work, specialty services and more).

We offer telehealth appointments for:

  • Pink eye
  • Headaches
  • Infections
  • Earache
  • Rash
  • Respiratory problems
  • Sore throat
  • Sinusitis
  • Vomiting/Diarrhea
  • Bronchitis
  • Sprains and strains
  • Anxiety/Depression
  • STIs/STDs
  • Urinary tract infections

Lab Services

We can do blood draws and other testing at the University Health Center. Staff at the Student Health and Wellness Center on the Health Science Campus will refer to you to nearby labs at the University of Toledo Medical Center.

If your medical provider at home orders lab work, we can do the testing here. Call for an appointment and bring in the order.

If we need to send the test to our reference laboratory, results are generally delivered to your physician within 24-48 hours.


UToledo has four pharmacies to serve you ― one on Main Campus and three on or near the Health Science Campus.

We operate much like your neighborhood pharmacy. We accept many prescription plans. Please bring your prescription card when you come in.

  • We accept prescriptions from our doctors as well as doctors from the outside UToledo.
  • Prescriptions can be phoned in to our pharmacy
  • We can call a prescription in to the pharmacy of your choice.

Immunization and Allergy Injections

If you receive regular allergy shots at home, we can give you those injections on campus for a nominal fee. We work with you and your allergist and can store your serum at the University Health Center. Call 419.530.3451 for information on how to set this up.

We also provide other injections and immunizations by appointment:

  • Meningitis vaccinations
  • Tuberculosis skin tests
  • Tetanus shots
  • MMR vaccinations
  • Standard immunizations for travel abroad

Women's Health

  • Annual and initial gynecological examinations (PAP tests)
  • Testing and treatment of sexually transmitted infections and diseases (STIs/STDs)
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Pregnancy testing
  • Birth control methods and counseling
  • Menstrual/hormonal irregularities

Mental Health

Our health centers refer students to the following on-campus mental health resources:

Walk-in HIV Testing

Every third Tuesday of the month from 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., the University Health Center offers free confidential HIV testing patients.

The results are processed within 30 minutes. This service is walk-in only due to confidentiality.
