First steps as a ROcket

Congrats on your admission to The University of Toledo!  

It’s time to take your next steps to becoming a Rocket. Here’s what to do to prepare for your first semester at UToledo.

First-year students

  1. Log-In to Your New Rocket Portal: Visit your New Rocket Portal to get started, view important instructions and track your progress to completing your next steps. Your login credentials are the same as those you used to apply to UToledo.  
    If you need assistance logging in, please contact your admission counselor. 
  2. Set Up Your myUT Account: Your myUT account will be used throughout your time at UToledo. This is where you will register for classes, pay your enrollment and housing deposits, and access your UToledo email. To activate your myUT account, you will need your Rocket ID, which can be found on the home page of the New Rocket Portal. 
  3. Pay your enrollment deposit: Let us know you are planning to join us by paying your $100 enrollment deposit. This can be done on the myUT portal under the ‘Student’ tab in the ‘My Accounts’ section. Click the ‘Deposits’ link.  
    If you are paying via Credit Card, there will be an additional $3 processing fee. 
  4. Pay your housing application fee and submit your housing application: If you choose or are required to live on campus, you will need to pay your $40 housing application fee after your enrollment deposit is made. This can be done on the myUT portal under the ‘Student’ tab in the ‘My Housing’ section. Click the ‘University Housing Application.’ 
  5. File the FAFSA: All students who wish to be considered for financial aid are encouraged to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) at studentaid.gov. Enter the federal school code 003131 on the FAFSA to ensure your information is sent to UToledo. 
  6. Register for Orientation: Orientation (known as Rocket Launch) is required for all new students. At Orientation, you will get an insider look at all things Rocket life and schedule your first semester of classes with the help of your academic advisor. Register for Orientation in your New Rocket Portal, using the login credentials you used to apply to UToledo. 
  7. Begin checking your Rockets email: All new students should begin checking their Rockets email account regularly for official University correspondence, including financial aid information and important academic advising information. Your Rockets email can found on your myUT portal in the Student tab or at rockets.utoledo.edu

The remainder of your next steps (like purchasing a parking pass, paying your bill, etc.) can be found on the New Student Tab of your myUT portal

Adult, gap-year and transfer students

  1. Log-In to Your New Rocket Portal: Visit your New Rocket Portal to get started, view important instructions and track your progress to completing your next steps. Your login credentials are the same as those you used to apply to UToledo.

  6. Optional: Register for housing: If you are choosing to live on campus, you will need to pay your $40 housing application fee. This can be done on the myUT portal under the ‘Student’ tab in the ‘My Housing’ section. Click the ‘University Housing Application.’

International undergraduate students

  1. Log-In to Your New Rocket Portal: Visit your New Rocket Portal to get started, view important instructions and track your progress to completing your next steps. Your login credentials are the same as those you used to apply to UToledo.  
    If you need assistance logging in, please contact your admission counselor. 
  2. Set Up Your myUT Account: Your myUT account will be used throughout your time at UToledo. This is where you will register for classes, pay your enrollment and housing deposits, and access your UToledo email. To activate your myUT account, you will need your Rocket ID, which can be found on the home page of the New Rocket Portal. 
  3. Start your I-20 Process: Before you can apply for your first F-1 visa for entry into the United States, you need to obtain Form I-20, “Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status”. To obtain I-20 form from The University of Toledo, you need to submit the following documents in the International Rocket Portal:

    Copy of the ID page of passport (issued by your government and acceptable for international travel) 

    Financial Affidavit: Proof of enough financial resources to cover the cost of study at The University of Toledo and living in the United States for at least one full year (e.g. bank letter). The exact amount to demonstrate was emailed to you from our office with your admission and scholarship letters. Bank letters must be dated within 30 days of submission. 

    Sponsor letter (if the financial documents you provide are not in your name). 

    The I-20 will be emailed to you as a PDF once we have received all required supporting documentation in the International Rocket Portal

  4. Pay I-901 (SEVIS) Fee: Before you can apply for your first F-1 visa for entry into the United States, you must pay the mandatory U.S. Student Exchange Visitor (SEVIS) I-901 processing fee of $350. This is a separate payment from the visa application fee. Use fmjfee.com to pay the form I-901 SEVIS fee online. The University of Toledo school code is CLE214F00330000. You must keep the receipt of your payment to show at both your visa appointment and at the U.S. port of entry.
  5. Visa Application and Interview: After your I-901 fee has been paid, contact the nearest U.S. Embassy or U.S. Consulate to schedule your visa interview.

    Follow the directions provided by the U.S. Embassy when you schedule and arrive for your interview.

  6. Graduate students

Your Rockets email can found on your myUT portal in the Student tab or at rockets.utoledo.edu

International graduate students

  2.
