Personality and Emotion Research and Treatment (PERT) Laboratory

The Personality and Emotion Research and Treatment (PERT) Laboratory within the Department of Psychology at the University of Toledo is a translational research laboratory combining basic experimental research on the mechanisms underlying personality pathology, posttraumatic stress disorder, and addictive and risky behaviors with treatment outcome research focused on the development of novel interventions to target these difficulties.

The PERT Laboratory was founded in 2008 by Drs. Gratz and Tull in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi. Since its inception, the PERT Laboratory has received funding from numerous state and federal institutions, including the National Institute of Mental Health, National Institute on Drug Abuse, National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, and the Mississippi State Department of Health.

Research in the PERT Laboratory has been continuously funded since 2008, and trainees in the PERT Laboratory have been incredibly successful in obtaining faculty positions at leading academic institutions across the United States, including Yale University School of Medicine, University of Massachusetts at Amherst, University of Mississippi, University of Southern Mississippi, Auburn University, Miami University, and the University of Houston.

The PERT Laboratory is located on the first and fifth floors of University Hall at the University of Toledo. First floor PERT Laboratory offices are located in the Psychology Clinic and fifth floor offices are located across from the Department of Psychology main office.
