Welcome Government Official!

The Global Business Development Institute (GBDI) is dedicated to strengthening the global competitiveness of firms in the Great Lakes region through development of an internationally experienced workforce.  The GBDI works with companies to evaluate their global competitiveness and implement international thinking into the organization.  The GBDI also strives to attract foreign companies to invest in the region in order to boost the Great Lakes economy, specifically in Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan.  The following is a highlight of  GBDI objectives:

  • Increase the global competitiveness of area businesses by means of international business training, research and consulting
  • Participate in programs to assist regional economic development and enhance public awareness of global business
  • Promote the International Business (IB) Academic Programs, Student Internships and Study-Abroad Programs

Traditionally, the GBDI has been supported by federal and state grants along with foundation and corporate endowments and generous support from alumni.  To-date funding has been received from the U.S. Department of Education, the Cleveland Foundation, the National Endowment for Humanities, Owens'Illinois, and, most recently, the State of Ohio.  Total Funding (to-date) - more than $1.5 Million.
