Katy earned her Ph.D. in Marketing at the University of Alabama, her M.B.A. from Minnesota State University, Mankato, and her B.A., summa cum laude, in German at the University of Kentucky. She spent a year studying history and German language at the University of Heidelberg in Heidelberg, Germany, completed a study tour of Greece during her M.B.A., and has participated in several other international events and conferences.

At the University of Toledo, Katy teaches both Advanced Sales and Professional Sales courses in the Edward Schmidt School of Professional Sales. She is also the faculty advisor for the Pi Sigma Epsilon chapter and coaches sales competition teams. She is also a recipient of the DeJute Undergraduate Teaching Award awarded by the University of Toledo College of Business and Innovation.

Katy researches in the area of sales including management control systems, salesperson individual differences, emotional intelligence, and negotiations. She has published in journals such as Journal of Business Research, Industrial Marketing Management, Journal of Personal Selling & Sales Management, Journal of Business & Industrial Marketing, and Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice.

Katy has received several awards for research including an interdisciplinary research grant, AMA Best Paper in Track Award, the Journal of Personal Selling & Sales Management James M. Comer Award for Best Contribution to Selling and Sales Management Theory, and the Junior Researcher Award awarded by the University of Toledo’s College of Business and Innovation.

Katy currently serves on the board of the National Conference in Sales Management (NCSM) and the board of the American Marketing Association Sales Special Interest Group (AMA Sales SIG).
